Postcard From Paris: Centre Pompidou

When the Centre Georges Pompidou was opened in 1977 after five years of construction works, Parisians dubbed it one of the most hideous buildings in the world. Today, it is still nicknamed La Raffinerie (Refinery). The museum is an example of all-embracing, sophisticated design, its outside already hints at what you can see inside: Modern Art. Most Parisians are used to the sight of the museum by now, and it definitely is a landmark – like the Eiffel Tower of which the French thought the same when it was constructed. I could have spent hours in this museum and not even look at the exhibits for the outer appearance is so detailed and fascinating.
